MVGATE announces our return to the Autodesk Gallery — this time just for younger kids, grades 3-4-5! The tour gives a remarkable glimpse of the world our kids will live and work and compete in, brought to us with the help of three wonderful MVGATE parents and Marin’s own world-leading software company, founded right here in MV. We’re thrilled to bring this technology opportunity to younger kids for the first time, and we hope to see you there.
TITLE: Autodesk Gallery Guided Tour (and More)
WHEN: Wednesday 3/5/2014 from 3:00-5:00pm.
WHERE: Autodesk Gallery, One Market Street #200, SF
WHO: Twenty students and ten adults max. Open to MV GATE member students and their friends in grades 3-4-5. Parents are needed to drive and chaperone.
ACTIVITIES: The Autodesk Gallery at One Market celebrates the design process that takes a great idea and turns it into a reality. With more than 20 different exhibits regularly on display that showcase the innovative work of Autodesk customers, the gallery illustrates the role technology plays in great design and engineering. Our group will have a private tour led by the Senior Director of Design Research, who also happens to be an EM & MS dad. Last year, kids received a beautiful “coffee table” book of many of the designs from the Gallery.
TRAVEL: Parents are responsible for getting students to and from the Autodesk Gallery at One Market St in San Francisco. OPTION 1: Parent chaperones/drivers will self-organize carpools – one parent per 3 students is suggested. Leave an hour for travel time in case there is traffic; parking is available nearby, although somewhat pricey. OPTION 2: Take the Larkspur Ferry departing at 2:15p and arriving at the SF Ferry Building 2:50p, and then walk to the Autodesk Gallery one block across Embarcadero from the Ferry Building. There is a return ferry at 5:20p arriving Larkspur 6:05p, and another at 5:55p arriving 6:25p. (There’s also a 1:55-2:25p ferry from Sausalito, but it’ll be tight.) We suggest students bring a snack and water bottle.
PARENTS: Chaperones will join the tour, and it is expected that all parents will arrange for their child to have a specific chaperone. Additional parent storage available across Embarcadero in the SF Ferry Building, with ample shopping and cafés.

REGISTRATION & PAYMENT: Tickets are $10 per GATE child and are available through EventBrite. A liability waiver through EventBrite is required. If you plan to take the ferry, students should bring an additional $10 in cash. Parent chaperones get a free ticket to the event, but pay their own transport and/or parking fees.
