Welcome to CodeKids 2, Scratch Lab!

In CodeKids2: Scratch Lab we’ll learn the basics of the Scratch programming language, then create apps, games and animations you can share with friends and family. Maybe even the world. Here’s what we’ll do:

1) Click on Scratch to go to the Scratch Project Editor

2) In the Editor, click on the “Tips” menu (upper left), then click on “Step by Step Intro” in the window that pops up on the right.

3) Go through all 13 tips; you’ll recognize many of these Scratch commands and capability from Blockly in CodeKids1, but now they are in the more powerful, flexible Scratch environment.

Play around with what you learn, then click on the other learning links in the Tips window for more help and ideas.

From this beginning, we’ll go on to Scratch videos, creating apps and games, and sharing your creations with friends and the Scratch community.

As you browse the Scratch site you’ll find projects other people have made. You can play with them and study them and even remix them yourself.

Coach Leane will collect and store projects here that we can tear apart.
