Following up on the success of PTA-sponsored “Hour of Code Night” at Old Mill in December, MV GATE is happy to announce Code Club!, a new after-school option for Old Mill kids grades 1-5.
The Club continues the experience of December’s amazing “Hour of Code Night”: self-paced computer science learning, from tested world-class online resources, in 2-person “pair-programming” teams that make learning technology a social, warmly supported group experience. Parents are welcome to join in as well! Each child will follow the Club’s “Code-Coach-Create” model, in which kids learn coding technique, then attain “Code Coach” status and help teach their Club-mates. The most advanced teams will create their own games or applications, which we’ll share and recognize on Graduation Night at the end of the year.
MV GATE Code Club will run weekly for eight weeks, meeting in the Old Mill Library on Tuesdays for grades 1-2-3, Fridays for grades 3-4-5. Space is limited! Sign up now for
